U.S. Marines with Maritime Raid Force (MRF), 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (California) and 31th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Okinawa, Japan) conducts raids on isolated compounds and urban environments, marksmanship, parachute operations and VBSS training.

The MRF is a sub-unit of the ARG/MEU that is task-organized for each specific mission. However, it typically consists of three platoons: a Force Reconnaissance Platoon as the assault element, an Amphibious Reconnaissance Platoon as the support element, and a Battalion Landing Team infantry platoon as the security element.

The MRF's role is to carry out raids against maritime objectives such as oil and gas platforms, ships and targets ashore.
