The M250 is a next-generation light machine gun designed by SIG Sauer for the U.S. Army, chambered in 6.8×51mm ammunition. Developed under the Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) program, the M250 is set to replace the M249 SAW that has served for over four decades. Its 6.8×51mm round delivers significantly greater range and penetrating power than the 5.56mm NATO, designed to defeat modern body armor and near-peer threats.
