The oil tanker originally known as "Bella 1" refused boarding by the U.S. Coast Guard in the Caribbean and attempted to flee. During its voyage, the vessel changed its name to "Marinera" and flew the Russian flag in an effort to deter enforcement, but on January 7, 2026, it was seized in the North Atlantic near the United Kingdom and Iceland by U.S. forces, including the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard.
