The U.S. military has deployed its first unit operating the Low-cost Unmanned Combat Attack System (LUCAS) drones to the Middle East.

These LUCAS drones, designated "FLM 136", were jointly reverse-engineered by the U.S. military and SpecterWorks, based on the Iranian-made "Shahed 136".

Each drone can be operated at a low cost of about $35,000 per unit, and it can be launched using various mechanisms, including catapults, rocket-assisted takeoff, mobile ground systems, and vehicle-mounted launchers.
