As of May 2025, the only Nimitz-class aircraft carriers that have completed the necessary upgrades to support operational deployment of the F-35C Lightning II are the following four:
– USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70)
– USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72)
– USS George Washington (CVN-73)
– USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71)
Among them, only the first three—Carl Vinson, Abraham Lincoln, and George Washington—are currently conducting operational deployments with the F-35C.
Although Ford-class aircraft carriers were designed from the outset to support F-35C operations—with advanced systems such as EMALS and AAG—they have not yet deployed the aircraft operationally. Full integration is expected in future deployments, particularly aboard the USS John F. Kennedy (CVN-79) and subsequent ships in the class.
