Researchers have successfully classified the shapes of over half a million galaxies using an extensive set of observational data from the Subaru Telescope.
They prepared training data and fed them into an Artificial Intelligence (AI) to distinguish spiral patterns of galaxies.
About 80 thousand spiral galaxies have been identified by the trained AI and many of them are over 2.5 billion light-years way.
