GLOBIS Top Seminar
Marketing and Leadership in Politics:
What businesses can learn from President Obama
Mark Kennedy, Director, Graduate School of Political Management, George Washington University
GLOBIS proudly presented the Honorable Mark Kennedy, Director of the Graduate School of Political Management at the George Washington University, renowned professor, and former three term member of the United States House of Representatives. In this GLOBIS Top Seminar, Mr. Kennedy spoke on the exciting topic of political marketing and leadership in the United States presidency, using President Barack Obama's campaigns for the White House and time in office as a case study.
For Mr. Obama, winning the presidential election was an extraordinary achievement, his campaign's embrace of technology and viral marketing techniques have been copied by political aspirants at all levels.
Despite that game-changing performance, delivering on his campaign promises and producing actual results has so far proved to be far more lofty challenge to his political acumen, with actors across the political spectrum seeking to modify or halt his legislative goals.
In this seminar, Mr. Kennedy shared his insights on President Obama's victories on the campaign trail as well as his political leadership during subsequent successes and struggles to realize the promises he made to the public. Later in the seminar, Mr. Kennedy and the GLOBIS President Yoshito Hori joined in a dialogue to further expand on the subject of political marketing and leadership, and their relevance and implication to business.
