トム・ハンクス氏は、米国の俳優であり、映画製作者です。若い頃から多くの映画作品を作り、映画「フォレストガンプ」でアカデミー映画主演男優賞を受けました。

彼がアメリカの名門大学の一つであるイェール大学で2011年度卒業祝辞をする映像です。恐怖と信念は、常に一緒にあるコインの前後のようなものです。信念の後には常に恐れがあるので、信念を持ち常に前進して下さい「Move forward」と話しています。これと似てる表現が、以前Denzel Washington（デンゼル・ワシントン）の卒業祝辞にも出てきました「Fall forward」。多くの隠喩法が使われているので英語が少し難しいと思います。彼の話を聞いてみましょう。
