地球環境問題を考えるためには、気候変動や頻発する巨大災害、増大する人間活動や生物多様性の喪失など複雑な諸問題に対する総合的な理解が必要です。本講義ではこれらの環境問題とそれに対する国際的枠組み、科学技術の役割について概説します。特に貧困と災害の問題を中心に、東南アジアでの具体的事例を通して、持続可能な社会の実現に向けた自然科学と社会科学による統合的アプローチの重要性について考えていきます。

Global Environment Studies: Thinking Poverty, Disasters, and Sustainable Development [JP]

To think about the global environment, we need comprehend the problems of climate change, recurrent natural disasters, world population explosion, deprivation of biodiversity, and so on. In this lecture, Prof. Kawasaki outlines the international action frameworks and scientific efforts toward the solution of the problems, especially of the global poverty and the natural disasters.
