現在に至るまでの教養学部の歴史を概観し、現代社会における「教養知」の必要性についてお話します。

1949年に新制東京大学の第1回入学式が安田講堂で挙行されたのと同じ7月7日に、東京大学教養学部の創立70周年記念したシンポジウムが開催されました。シンポジウムでは、東京大学教養学部にご縁が深く現在一線で活躍中の方々、および教養学部の教員が登壇し、駒場における研究・教育の意義と魅力をさまざまな視点から解き明かします。

Title: Expectations for Komaba: Liberal Arts and Environment [JP]

A symposium commemorating the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the College of Arts and Sciences, the University of Tokyo, was held on July 7, which was the same date of the first entrance ceremony of the University of Tokyo in the present system held at Yasuda Auditorium in 1949.

Professor Emeritus Makoto Asashima gives an overview of the history of the College of Arts and Sciences and discusses the necessity of “liberal arts” in modern society.
