巨大なキノコでいっぱいな、このような森は
SF映画に出てきそうな光景ですが
時を古生代デボン紀まで、ほんの少しだけ(？)戻すと
地球上のある森では
このような映画みたいな光景を見ることができます。

約4億2,000万年前の地球には
最大8.8mまで育った
巨大なカビ（菌類）がはびこっていました。
今日は、歴史上、最も大きかった菌類である
「プロトタキシーテス」に関するお話です。
