新型コロナウイルスの感染者数が30万人を超えるなど、世界で5位、ロシアをのぞく欧州では最大の感染国となってしまったイギリス。3月末から10週間以上続いていた外出制限も6月に入り一部が緩和され、15日には全商店の営業再開が許可された。

今回は外出制限が緩和された直後に、ロンドン中心部の様子を、2階建ての真っ赤なバス「ダブルデッカー」に乗って撮影してみた。本格的に経済を再開する前のロンドン市内は、シャッターを降ろしたままの店が目立ち、まだまだ人影もまばらだ。

しかし時代を感じさせる建物や美しい街並みは健在。Hammersmith station ～ Aldwych 間を走るバス「ルート９」はバッキンガム宮殿が近いこともあり、英国王室ゆかりの観光スポットを車窓から楽しむことができる。

There have been more than 300,000 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the United Kingdom unfortunately. National lockdown(stay home restriction) began in late-March was partly eased in June. After easing the lockdown in England, I took a journey by double-deck bus towards Central London, where most of the shops closed their doors and the street was quiet.

You can enjoy the city view and the historic places related to Royal Family, from the window of the bus "route 9” (running between Hammersmith station and Aldwych).
What you can see: Kensington gardens, Royal Albert Hall, Harvey Nichols, Hyde Park, Wellington Arch, Green Park, Ritz London, Fortnum&Mason, Piccadilly Circus, Her Majesty’s theatre, Trafalgar Square, National Gallery
