　千葉県船橋市の非公認キャラクター「ふなっしー」が12月6日、船橋市の中山競馬場で行われたクリスマスイルミネーションの点灯式に登場した。点灯式には、女優の吉本実憂さんも参加した。

　イベント後の取材でふなっしーは、　「今年を漢字一字で表すと？」と聞かれると、拡大の「拡」という文字を挙げ、「来年は、ふなっしーまさかのアニメ化とか、どうなっし？」と、さらなる野望を語っていた。

　中山競馬場のイルミネーションは、天然木のツリーとしては国内最大級の高さ20メートルのヒマラヤ杉を中心に正門前広場に設置。12月21日までの土曜、日曜と、24～28日に点灯する。
