　ラグビー日本代表の五郎丸歩選手が、今年最も輝いた男性に贈られる「GQ　メン・オブ・ザ・イヤー　2015」に選出され、東京都内で11月19日に行われた授賞式に出席。ワールドカップの活躍で注目を集める一方、あくまで「チームの一員」であることを強調してきた五郎丸選手は、キックに入る前の「ルーティン」や「五郎丸ポーズ」が今年流行した言葉を決める「2015　ユーキャン新語・流行語大賞」にノミネートされたことについて、「違和感がある」と苦笑交じりに答え、「ラグビー日本代表が4年間かかげてきた『JAPAN WAY』が入ってほしかった」と本音を明かした。

　それでも五郎丸選手は「子供がポーズをまねしてくれるのはうれしい」と頬を緩ませる場面もあり、今回の受賞に関しては「僕個人というよりも日本ラグビー界の代表として受け取ったという認識」と謙虚な姿勢を崩さず、「いつも応援してくれているラグビーファンと、ともに戦ったラグビー日本代表にこの喜びを伝えたい」と語った。

　同賞は、男性向けライフスタイル誌「GQ」日本版（コンデナスト・ジャパン）が毎年選出しているもので、米国をはじめ、英国、ドイツ、インド、中国、韓国など世界17カ国（2015年予定）で実施している。日本では06年に始まり、10回目となる今年は、五郎丸選手のほか、お笑いコンビ「ピース」の又吉直樹さん、俳優の鈴木亮平さんと吉田鋼太郎さん、バイオリニストの葉加瀬太郎さん、元プロテニスプレーヤーの松岡修造さんを選出し、今後さらなる活躍が期待される人物をたたえる特別賞を女性3人組メタルユニット「BABYMETAL（ベビーメタル）」に贈った。

Japan Rugby Team's player Ayumu Goromaru, who was selected as "GQ Men of the year 2015" - which is awarded to the most shining men this year, attended the award ceremony held in Tokyo on November 19th.

Player Goromaru, who is favored thanks to his success in the World Cup but persistently emphasized "I am just a team's member", when answering about the nomination for "2015 U-Can New Words and Buzzwords Awards" which determines popular words of the year, thanks to "Routine" or "Goromaru pose" before kicking the ball, said with a wryly smile: "I feel strange", and honestly confessed: "I want "JAPAN WAY" - which has been used by the Japan Rugby Team's player for 4 years - is entered into the list of popular words instead".
