　「きものクイーンコンテスト2016」が2月27日、浅草公会堂（東京都台東区）で開かれ、約6200人の応募者の中からクイーンに東京都出身の学生・松田和佳さん（19）が選ばれた。手で顔を覆い、涙ぐみながら舞台に立った松田さんは「こんな素敵な賞を頂けたことにびっくりしています」といい、「最近若者は着物を着る機会が大変少なくなっていると思うので、これからもっと若い世代に、日本の古典文化、伝統の民族衣装である着物をもっともっと世界にも広めていけたらと思います」と決意を語った。

　同コンテストは、ハクビ京都きもの学院とオスカープロモーションが共同で企画・運営している「きもの美人日本一」を決定するイベント。今年は約6200人が応募し、選ばれた541人が会場に集まり、審査を受けた。コンテストには、プレゼンターとして女優の河北麻友子さんも登場。「本当に皆さん素敵。発表させていただいたときに、自分の美少女コンテストのことを思い出して、ドキドキしちゃいました」と感想を語った。

　準クイーンには葛谷まりんさん（19）と芹川有里さん（28）を選出。上運天美聖（うえうんてん・みさと）さん（20）がオスカープロモーション賞に輝き、事務所所属のチャンスを獲得した。

The “Kimono Queen Contest 2016” was held at Asakusa Public Hall (Tokyo-to, Taito-ku) on February 27th. Surpassing 6200 participants, Waka Matsuda (19y), who is a student from Tokyo, was selected to be the Queen.

Matsuda stood on the stage, used a hand to cover her face and said with a tearful voice: “I am very surprised for receiving this wonderful award” and added with determination: “Recently, the youth has fewer and fewer opportunities to wear Kimono. Thus, from now on, I want to widely disseminate to the youth and the world about Kimono – a classical cultural feature and traditional costume of Japan”."
