　俳優の渡辺謙さんが4月26日、東京都内で行われた映画「追憶の森」（ガス・ヴァン・サント監督）のプレミアイベントに出席。渡辺さんは2011年の東日本大震災の直後にオファーを受けていたが、「死生観をテーマにしたものなので、そのときの心境としては背負いきれる余裕がなかった」と一度は出演をためらったことを告白した。

　「追憶の森」は、富士山の北西に広がる青木ケ原の樹海が舞台。死に場所を求めてやってきたアメリカ人のアーサー（マシュー・マコノヒーさん）は、けがをし、寒さに震える日本人のタクミ（渡辺さん）と出会う。放っておくことができず、タクミと一緒に出口を求めて歩き始めるが、道はどこも行き止まりで、方向感覚を失った2人は森をさまよう……というストーリー。4月29日公開。

Actor Ken Watanabe was present at the preview of the movie "The Sea of Trees" (directed by Gus Van Sant), held in Tokyo, on April 26th.

Watanabe expressed that he had received the offer on the movie immediately after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, but had been confused once for playing the role: "Because the theme of the movie perspective on life and death, I cannot secure enough to fully express this subject."
