　アニメ「カウボーイビバップ」の渡辺信一郎監督が、SF映画「ブレードランナー」から続編「ブレードランナー 2049」（10月27日公開）に至る“空白の30年間”のエピソードの一つを描く短編アニメ「ブレードランナー ブラックアウト2022」を制作したことが15日、明らかになった。

　渡辺監督は「ブレードランナー 2049」を制作するアルコン・エンターテインメントのオファーでアニメを制作することになったといい、「アニメ版を制作するにあたり気を付けたのは、『ブレードランナー』に最大限のリスペクトを払うこと」とコメントを寄せている。短編アニメの一部や制作の様子を垣間見られる映像も公開された。アニメは26日にお披露目される予定。

　「ブレードランナー」は、フィリップ・K・ディックさんのSF小説「アンドロイドは電気羊の夢を見るか？」が原作の映画で1982年に公開。続編「ブレードランナー 2049」は、前作から30年後の2049年を舞台に、ロサンゼルス市警のブレードランナー・Kが、30年間行方不明だったブレードランナー・デッカードを探す。前作の監督を務めたリドリー・スコットさんが製作総指揮を担当し、前作で主人公・デッカードを演じたハリソン・フォードさんが再び同役で出演する。

The Movie "Blade Runner 2049”

Director Shinichiro Watanabe's "Cowboy Bebop" anime of the short version of "Blade Runner Blackout 2022" from one of the "the Gap of 30 years" episodes from the SF movie "Blade Runner" to the next anime episode. "Blade Runner 2049" (released October 27th) was released on the September 15th.

Watanabe says he has decided to produce an anime based on an offer from Alcon Entertainment, the production company of "Blade Runner 2049." He also commented, "iI must pay attention, while making this anime version, to respect the "Blade Runner" as much as possible".

The new images of the short anime help viewers visualize a part and the whole work was published. Anime is expected to release on the September 26th.
