Robot astronaut to be sent to ISS

A team of Japanese researchers at the University of Tokyo and other institutions unveil a small talking humanoid robot on June 26, 2013, that will be sent to the International Space Station in August 2013 to communicate with astronauts stationed for long periods. The artificial intelligence robot called Kirobo is expected to converse in Japanese with Koichi Wakata, who will serve as the first Japanese captain during his long stay on the ISS, possibly from November 2013.
