６６回目となる「さっぽろ雪まつり」開幕を前にメーン会場の大通公園（札幌市中央区）で４日夜、氷や雪の像をライトアップする試験点灯が行われた。大通会場、すすきの会場など市内３カ所に約２００基の大小さまざまな氷雪像が設置される。ライトアップは１１日までの期間中、大通会場で午後１０時、すすきの会場で同１１時（１１日は１０時）まで。

Sculptures made of snow and ice are illuminated on Feb. 4, 2015 on the eve of the 66th Sapporo Snow Festival, an event that attracts more than 2 million domestic and foreign tourists every year. The event will be held until Feb. 11 at Odori Park and other locations in the northern Japan city of Sapporo.
