東芝が開発した人型ロボット「地平（ちひら）アイこ」が２０日、日本橋三越本店の１階の受付に受付嬢として登場し、来店客をお出迎えた。地平アイこは人間に近い容姿や表情が特徴のロボットで、同店では食品フロアの情報や店内で開催中のイベントについて、身ぶり手ぶりを交えながら紹介。東芝は展示会の案内係や福祉の現場など幅広い分野での活用を目指す。

A humanoid communication robot named Aiko Chihira was introduced at the reception desk at Mitsukoshi Main Store in Tokyo's Nihonbashi district on April 20, 2015, to welcome customers and provide them with store information. The creator of the robot, Toshiba Corp., plans to use it not only at reception desks but also at exhibition halls and welfare-related facilities.
