青函トンネルを新幹線が210km/hで走行した際の車窓です。(2021年1月2日撮影)
青函トンネルは在来線と線路を共用しており貨物列車とすれ違います。
新幹線の青函トンネル内での運転速度は貨物列車の安全に配慮して160km/hとされています。
今回、青函トンネル区間の速度向上と所要時間短縮向けて、貨物列車の誤進入防止システムや高速確認車の開発、レールの削正などに取り組まれ、貨物列車本数が少ない年末年始限定で営業運転で初めて210km/h走行が行われました。
また、これまで特急列車や夜行列車などの在来線も走行してきた青函トンネルですが、新幹線が本当の意味での新幹線としてこの新在共用区間を初めて走行した期間でもあります。

This video shows the scenery seen from the Shinkansen running through the Seikan Tunnel at a speed of 210km/h.
Seikan Tunnel shares railroad tracks with conventional lines and passes by freight trains.
The operating speed of Shinkansen is 160 km/h in consideration of the safety of freight trains.
This time, toward the improvement of the speed inside of Seikan Tunnel, we worked on the development of a freight train erroneous entry prevention system, a high-speed confirmation vehicle, rail rectification, etc.
and for the first time in commercial operation, 210 km/h travel was carried out only during the year-end and New Year holidays when the number of cargoes is small.
