テキスタイルデザイナーの野口光さんが衣類の綻びを繕う技術は、ダーニングというヨーロッパの伝統的手法。
従来のカケハギのように修繕したところを隠すのではなく、カラフルな糸を使って模様を作り出し、その縫い目も新たな柄に生まれ変わります。
ダーニングは、家庭科で習った簡単な針仕事が出来ればOK。
不揃いな縫い目もまた、いい味になるんだとか。
自分の手で愛着ある衣類を直す喜びを伝える、野口さんの思い描く未来とは？

The technique used to mend damaged clothing by Ms. Hikaru Noguchi, a textile designer, is a traditional European technique called darning. Instead of concealing the mended area like in kakehagi, colorful thread is used and the needlework makes new designs, giving the clothing new life. Darning is simple needle work that can be accomplished with what is taught in a home economics class. The clashing patterns of the needlework also give it charm. Ms. Noguchi wants to teach others the happiness of repairing their favorite clothing themselves. What kind of future does she see?
