最近飲食店でよく見かける紙ストローですが、東京農業大学2年の大久保夏斗さんが手がけるのは、草が原料のストローです。3つ年上のお兄さんから、その存在を聞いたことで、すぐに事業を立ち上げました。自然由来のため土に還るのはもちろん、将来的には家畜の餌への転用も目指して日々改良を続けています。それが実は、原産国の農村で就労支援にも繋がっているといいます。大学で“農業を用いた途上国支援”を学ぶ大久保さんが手がける“草ストロー”。込められた思い、そして目指す未来とは？

Recently, you might have noticed the appearance of paper straws at restaurants. Natsuto Okubo（Tokyo University of Agriculture 2nd year） is trying his hand at natural straws made from a type of grass. His older brother told him about the existence of such straws, and upon hearing about them, he began his business immediately. As a product of nature; of course they decompose easily when thrown away. Everyday he continues to improve his business. In the future, he would like discarded straws to be used as feed for livestock. In reality, that is also connected to supporting employment in Vietnam where the straw is grown.
